Losing a Loved One in an Auto Accident

The loss of a close relative is one of the most challenging experiences anyone may ever endure in their lifetime. On top of coping with loss and grief, surviving family members must address several important tasks in addition to a challenging future without their loved one’s love and support. When the loss was the result of another party’s wrongdoing, it may compound the grief survivors have with anger and frustration. Negligent actions in any setting may provide the grounds for a wrongful death claim. In motor vehicle accident cases, compensation is generally sought from the insurance company representing the negligent driver.

The individual or entity that caused the fatal accident is responsible for compensating surviving family members for their loss. Multiple insurance policies must be located and reviewed. The duty of a Stockton wrongful death attorney is to conduct an investigation and determine the types of insurance coverage available to survivors in their time of loss. While bringing a claim for damages may be challenging, it is the job of an attorney to help families navigate the process and make it as smooth as possible.

When you have lost a loved one in an accident caused by another party or entity, it is essential to speak with an attorney about your potential options so you can make a well-informed decision. Unlike insurers, an attorney will always have the best interests of families they represent at heart and will ensure they are fairly compensated for damages incurred.
