Fatal Accident Involving Utility Pole Near Modesto

What Happened?
A Modesto man was driving his gold 1998 gold Toyota Camry eastbound along Standiford Avenue in the vicinity of Tully Road at approximately 7:00 am. The man allegedly lost control of his vehicle after traveling through an intersection. The Toyota slid sideways and collided with a utility pole near a shopping center. The Toyota came to a stop along the north side of Standiford Avenue.
Bystanders Assist Injured Man
Two bystanders, identified as a security guard and an employee from a nearby business, attempted to assist the injured man of the Toyota Camry. The two parties approached the vehicle and opened the door of the vehicle. The driver fell out of the vehicle and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation from bystanders until emergency personnel arrived. The man was later transported to an area hospital where he passed away due to the severity of his injuries. Officials identified the man as 25-year-old Alvin Kittiphane of Modesto.
What Caused the Accident?
The Modesto Police Department’s Traffic Unit is in charge of the accident investigation. A Traffic Collision Report by a local law enforcement agency generally takes seven to ten calendar days to be processed. However, witnesses informed authorities that the Toyota Camry was allegedly proceeding through the intersection at a high rate of speed moments before the accident.
