Community members from Harvest Time in Brentwood are going the extra mile to make East Contra Costa County stand out this fall. Holiday activities, educational activities, and family-friendly fun can all be expected. Corn mazes? Check. Pumpkin patches? Check. Pecan pie? Check. The list of options is endless for you and your family at Harvest Time, as they have guaranteed that you can have a full fall experience without ever leaving the city! Youth group organizations, schools, and daycares can also make arrangements to schedule a fun and educational field trip this season. Below is a list of upcoming events:
Smith’s Family Farms
The Smith’s Family Farms will be operating from now until Oct. 31st. Some of the fall activities taking place include live farm animal viewings, an observation beehive, live music, a herb garden for hand-picked bouquets, and the natural environment of a real, hardworking farm. A 1-mile hayride will transport visitors to the pumpkin patch, with a complimentary pumpkin of any size per visitor.
The Three Nunns Pumpkin Patch
This pumpkin patch, found at the corner of Marsh Creek Road and Vasco Road, has over 25 pumpkin varieties for all the Halloween fanatics out there. Not to mention an interactive corn maze that will be ideal for getting lost in with a friend or significant other, and the tractor rides that are fun for the whole family. After a long day of fun, satisfy your appetite by indulging in some of the fresh produce, including juicy pomegranates, ripe bell peppers, and more.
G&S Farms
Come over sometime before Halloween to get the full experience at G&S Farms, as they will be inviting the public to their jumbo corn maze, pumpkin patch, and classes for pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting. G&S is locally operated by third-generation farmers that were the first bunch to grow Brentwood Diamond sweet corn.
Gursky Ranch
One of the unique factors of Gursky Ranch, a 3-acre farm holdout, is its location. The ranch is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, making it easy to visit after school or on the weekends. Gursky Ranch is a must-visit for anyone who likes to spice up their food this season – their walnuts, pomegranates, and pumpkins are some of the best in the county. Additionally, a ton of gift baskets are available (get ready for the holiday season early!) or you can even customize a basket on your own.
Growing in Brentwood
Dwelley Family Farms is proud to offer conventionally grown, organic produce. Everything is grown using sustainable farming methods, and you can taste the difference in their premium fruit and vegetable selections. A limited supply of rare heirloom pumpkins is available for purchase if you’d like to stand out from the rest of your neighborhood this season.
