Fairfield Woman Fatally Injured In Suisun Crash

According to local officials, one woman tragically lost her life as the result of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, which took place in Suisun on Sunday, December 1, 2019. The decedent has since been identified as Victoria Morfidis-Florentino, a 50-year-old woman and resident of Fairfield. Reports have indicated that officers from both the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Suisun City Police Department (SCPD) responded to the accident. An investigation into involved factors is underway.

Crash Details

The collision took place at approximately 7:30 during the late evening as it was raining. Morfidis-Florentino had been crossing Marina Boulevard at the intersection of Highway 12 using a designated crossing area when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle that police say had been traveling at high speeds. SCPD Cmdr. Jeremy Crone stated that the vehicle did stop at the crash scene and that the incident is currently being investigated as a non-criminal fatal accident.

When emergency response officials arrived at the accident site, they discovered Morfidis-Florentino trapped underneath the vehicle with severe injuries. Suisun City Fire Department personnel administered CPR to revive her before having her transported to a local hospital via Medic Ambulance. Sadly, Morfidis-Florentino succumbed to her injuries in the emergency room of the hospital.

Investigation

Officers closed Highway 12 off temporarily while accident response was underway and kept the road shut off to traffic while CHP and SCPD investigated the scene. As the investigation continues, a full report regarding the circumstances of the crash remains unavailable. After fatal accidents, it’s important to contact an attorney who can privately investigate the crash to find out whether or not factors such as auto product defects, dangerous roadway design, or other forms of negligence were involved.

Coping with Wrongful Death

The loss of a loved one is always tragic, but losing somebody suddenly in an accident can be especially difficult. Many people who’ve lost somebody they care about in a crash experience overwhelming emotions that can be confusing and hard to manage while still meeting the demands of daily life. During such a stressful time, it’s important to be with your family and friends and to give yourself the time and space you need to process your grief. Many people benefit from seeking support from local organizations or by getting in touch with a grief counselor.

However, focusing on healing can seem impossible when you need to worry about financial issues related to your loss. Not only are funeral and burial costs steep, but losing somebody in your life often means losing income as well as household services and other things that you rely on. I believe that families deserve to have financial security during such tragic times. Thankfully, those who’ve lost loved ones can often claim compensation for their losses by pursuing a wrongful death claim. To learn more about these claims, watch this video:
