Fairfield Vehicle Fire Reported in Palomino Circle Neighborhood

A Fairfield vehicle fire prompted an extended emergency response Friday morning after an electric car repeatedly reignited in a residential neighborhood on Palomino Circle. The incident began around 7:35 a.m. on April 24, when Fairfield Police Department and Fairfield Fire Department personnel were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire in a driveway. Upon arrival, crews discovered the vehicle, identified as an electric car, actively burning and exhibiting signs of battery thermal runaway, a hazardous condition in which lithium-ion batteries can continue to generate heat and reignite even after flames appear to be extinguished.

Fairfield Vehicle Fire Shuts Down Area Due to Dangers

Authorities quickly secured the area, with police shutting down access to the immediate vicinity to protect residents and allow firefighters to work safely. Due to the nature of electric vehicle fires, crews faced ongoing challenges as the car repeatedly reignited, requiring continuous monitoring and suppression efforts. By approximately 8:45 a.m., firefighters remained on scene actively managing the situation. 

Vehicle Poses Fire Hazard for Hours

A tow truck, escorted by both fire and police units, transported the unstable vehicle to a tow yard where it can be monitored in a controlled environment.
