Fairfield CHP to Increase Enforcement Over Holiday Weekend

Fairfield CHP Increasing Enforcement Over Holiday Weekend

Fairfield area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that they would be participating in a state-wide effort to curb auto accidents over the Holiday weekend between Friday, July 3, and Sunday, July 5, 2020. As injury-causing accidents tend to happen more often on holiday weekends, CHP is aiming to combat this trend by adding extra patrols to key roadway areas in Solano County.

Staying Safe

CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley released a public statement about the effort. In the statement, Stanley reminded those with a “road trip” during the upcoming weekend to “stay safe and healthy” by practicing caution, adding that it’s “more important than ever” to obey speed limits, wear a seatbelt, and avoid driving while distracted or impaired.

The California Department of Public Health issued a statement urging the public to avoid long-distance travel for pleasure and/or vacations as much as possible because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, for those who choose to travel, the agency stated that people should do everything they can to keep themselves and others safe, including physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and frequently washing hands.

Last Year’s Data

According to CHP’s internal data, there were 21 accidents and 36 deaths within CHP jurisdiction during the 2019 Fourth of July weekend. Additionally, CHP officers made more than 1,300 DUI arrests during this time.

Additionally, the recent Memorial Day Weekend saw an increase in speeding incidents across the state, despite fewer vehicles on the road. During the weekend, CHP cited 458 people for driving at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, a 173 percent increase over 2019.

While the holiday weekend is shorter this year, CHP is still encouraging motorists to keep these solemn numbers in mind and practice caution by planning their trip, taking adequate time to drive, and remaining alert while on the road.

Accident Injuries

People who are injured during a car accident face a number of difficulties. The road to regaining your health can be stressful as well as physically painful. Many injured people need to have multiple surgeries, undergo long-term physical therapy, take medications, and more in order to regain their health. During the process of recovery, people are often unable to take part in activities they care about. In some cases, an injury makes it difficult or impossible to do your job, causing a loss of income.

Filing an Injury Claim

The medical care that people need to recover after a crash can be expensive, and if your injury has affected your income, it can be even harder to get the treatment you need. However, many people are able to obtain the money they need to make up for lost income and pay for medical care by filing an injury claim. By contacting an attorney and holding at-fault parties financially liable for your damages, it’s often possible to obtain the full amount of compensation you need to move forward with your life.
