Fairfield CA Auto Accident Statistics

I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield Auto Accident Lawyer.  The Office of Traffic Safety in California collects and monitors yearly data on motor vehicle accidents in California. It then displays the data online for each city and county. What do the numbers reveal about safety in Fairfield, CA?

Fairfield CA Auto Accident Statistics

From 2008-2013, the city of Fairfield CA had between 512 and 633 injured or deceased auto accident victims per year.  The lowest being in 2008 and the highest being in 2009.  Since 2009, however, the city of Fairfield saw a decline in the total number of accident victims that were injured or killed for every year except 2012-2013 when it saw a slight increase from 562 to 574.  While the decline is a good sign, these are considerably high numbers for cities with comparable populations to Fairfield, California.  In 2009, when Fairfield had 633 total injured or deceased auto accident victims, Fairfield was ranked sixth out of fifty-six other cities with comparable populations, according to the Office of Traffic Safety.  In 2013, the most recent year with published data, Fairfield had 574 injured or deceased auto accident victims and was ranked ninth out of the same fifty-six cities.

A Good Statistic

In 2013, the city of Fairfield, California, had zero traffic collision victims that sustained injury or died in an accident where a driver was under twenty-one years old and had been drinking alcohol.  2013 also brought Fairfield’s lowest number of auto accidents involving pedestrian victims, bicyclist victims, and accidents that were deemed speed related.  2013 also had the lowest amount of DUI arrests in Fairfield since 2008 with only 138 reported.  For comparison, 2009 had 409 DUI arrests, Fairfield’s highest number in that time span.
