Sacramento Outdoor Dining

Sacramentans have been enjoying lots of sunshine and temperatures much warmer than usual this February.  A glance at the forecast shows this trend looks to continue for the rest of the month. Trees are blooming early, allergies are kicking in – but let’s focus on the positive. With the weather as lovely as it is, our minds turn to outdoor dining. We are fortunate here in Sacramento to have so many delicious restaurants that feature outdoor patios or porches allowing diners to soak up some Vitamin D.  This list is by no means exhaustive, but here are just a few of the places around town with some of the most pleasant spaces to experience outdoor dining in Sacramento.

Paragary’s

Paragary’s has been a midtown Sacramento dining staple since 1983.   A few years ago, they underwent extensive renovations, with the lovely outdoor patio becoming a primary focus.  The patio includes established olive trees, waterfalls, and lush foliage. Paragary’s menu is varied and includes many appetizers, pasta selections, and they are known for their delicious brick oven pizzas.

Paragary’s is located at 1401 28th Street in Midtown Sacramento.  Their hours are:

  • Happy Hour: Monday 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. / Tuesday through Friday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Dinner: Sunday through Thursday: 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. / Friday and Saturday: 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Shack

The Shack is a casual eatery on the corner of Folsom Blvd and 52nd Street in East Sacramento.  The large outdoor seating area, covered in sunshades and surrounded by trees, is a big draw.  The Shack serves tasty, hearty food that pairs well with the many beers on tap. They serve some of the best burgers in the area, as well as a nut-based burger for vegetarians and vegans.  The Shack always has several beer options on their rotating taps and a chalkboard that displays which brews are featured.  Once spring and summer arrive, musicians often play on the patio on weekend evenings.  The Shack also hosts a Trivia Night on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.   It is always a fun, family-friendly time at The East Sac Shack.

The Shack is located at 5201 Folsom Boulevard.  The hours are:

  • Tuesday through Saturday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday & Monday: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On-site parking is very limited, but there are usually many open spaces on the side streets.

The Other Side

About a block away from The Shack, on the opposite side of Folsom Boulevard, is The Other Side, which includes an alfresco dining area alongside the building.  The Other Side is part of the Track 7 family, one of Sacramento’s most popular breweries. In addition to the company’s own delicious beers (Panic IPA is always on tap), The Other Side offers a varied menu of robust culinary offerings, including a giant roasted cauliflower appetizer.

The Other Side is located at 5090 Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento. Their hours are:

  • Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday/Sunday 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Weekends include a delicious brunch menu until 3:00 p.m.

Aioli Bodega Espanol

If you are looking for a romantic outdoor dining experience, this is the place for you.  Located on L street in Midtown, Aioli serves Spanish style tapas, smaller bites meant for sharing, which adds to the convivial atmosphere on the beautiful outdoor patio.  The outdoor space is encased in lush greenery and gives off a Mediterranean vibe.

Aioli is located at 1800 L Street in Sacramento.  Their hours are:

  • Monday – Saturday: 11:00am – 11:00pm
  • Sunday: 5:00pm – 10:00pm.

Wildwood

Not far from the grid, Wildwood is another Sacramento restaurant featuring an inviting outdoor patio, with established trees that are adorned with twinkling fairy lights. Wildwood’s terrace also offers comfortable couches with fire pits and outdoor heaters, so in case we revert back to standard February weather, keep this outdoor space in mind!

Wildwood has a vast and varied menu, including an extensive appetizer list, plates of pasta, sandwiches, and burgers, as well as seafood entrees.

Wildwood is located in the Pavilions Shopping Center in Sacramento. Their hours are as follows:

  • Happy Hour: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day
  • Brunch Hours: Saturday/Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Monday: 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 11: 00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Your Own Home

Many people prefer to cook and eat at home rather than go out to a restaurant.
