Man Killed in Elk Grove Multiple Car Crash
On Friday, July 8, 2016, one motorist passed away after a seven-car crash along Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove.
What Happened?
A little after 5:00 p.m., a sport-utility vehicle that bystanders indicated was “traveling at a high rate of speed” ended up rear-ending a Toyota Prius that had reduced its speed due to stop-and-go movement during Friday rush hour traffic. The crash occurred on a very busy thoroughfare located within the city, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.
Elk Grove Multiple Vehicle Crash Kills One Motorist
Sadly, the Elk Grove multiple vehicle crash killed the Prius driver. Elk Grove police have only identified the deceased driver as a man. The impact of the sport-utility vehicle with the Prius set off a terrible chain reaction involving five other motor vehicles. Three of the motor vehicles were significantly damaged as a result of the multiple car crash
Were There Multiple Injuries?
Yes. There were multiple injuries reported. The person behind the wheel of the sport-utility vehicle was injured and transported to a local hospital. This is reportedly the driver who witnesses claim was traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to hitting and killing the driver of the Toyota Prius.
Additionally, two other parties involved in the motor vehicle pileup were hurt and had to be transported to an area hospital.
Where Did The Crash Occur?
The crash occurred at the intersection of busy Laguna Boulevard, in the vicinity of Laguna Oaks Drive in the city of Elk Grove.
Sacramento County Coroner’s Office
The identity of the man who tragically passed away in the accident will be released shortly by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. The name of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification to the family of his death.
