Elk Grove Fireworks Scheduled for Fourth of July With a Twist

Fourth of July Celebratory Fireworks Scheduled for Elk Grove

It’s been a hard few months for everyone in Elk Grove between coping with COVID-19 and trying to keep the family safe, and everyone looks forward to the fireworks display on the Fourth of July. Elk Grove was among the first of the California cities to cancel large events in an effort to keep everyone safe. This year, there will be a fabulous fireworks display, but social distancing will be in place.

Families at Home Can Enjoy the Fireworks Display

Instead of the usual location of Elk Grove Regional Park, which often draws over 22,000 people, the location for the fireworks display this year will be undisclosed, but residents can see it from their homes. It was announced by a representative with Elk Grove that the fireworks company hired for this year’s display will use a bigger shell count, so the fireworks will be shot higher into the air for local residents to enjoy.

Celebrating the Holiday a Little Differently

Celebrations for the Fourth of July have been canceled in places such as Incline Village, Davis and Folsom because of the COVID-19 virus, which is a disappointment for many. Elk Grove residents should enjoy this small return to normalcy and the celebration of the country’s independence. It’s a great opportunity to have a cookout with family while being entertained by the city’s fireworks display.

Accidents on the Fourth of July

Although this year’s celebration in Elk Grove will be a little different, it may help cut down on the number of accident injuries and fatalities. According to the National Safety Council, around 50,000 motor vehicle accidents occur on the Fourth. Many of them are attributed to teens and drunk drivers on the road. Other types of accidents that are common on this holiday include:

  • Boating accidents: Because the weather is warm around the time of the Fourth of July, many people go boating over the holiday weekend. Reasons accidents while boating occur due to negligence include speeding, violating navigation rules, being intoxicated, being distracted and inexperienced. By using caution and obeying boating rules, these accidents can be avoided.
  • Cooking fires: Summer holiday weekends are popular times to fire up the grill and cook outdoors. Because of the high number of people who grill over the Fourth of July, it increases the number of outdoor cooking fires as well as open fires that can endanger homes and other buildings. Attending the fire at all times is important. Always have a garden hose or fire extinguisher nearby. Be careful not to let the flames get too high, and don’t forget to shut it off when the cooking is finished. When a defect in a gas or other grill causes an injury, a product liability claim may be placed for compensation with the help of an experienced lawyer.
  • Firework injuries: While snap caps, fountains and spinners are legal in California, many fireworks are not. Following guidelines helps, but faulty or mishandled fireworks can result in a serious eye or burn injury.
  • Swimming pools and hot tubs: These popular family activities are usually safe when properly supervised, and the pool is in good condition. However, hazards such as improper wiring or inadequate supervision can result in electrocution or drowning incidents. Having the pool or hot tub inspected and adequately supervised can reduce the risk, especially when children are present.
