Elk Grove Crash Kills Two
Elk Grove Crash Kills Two
I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove wrongful death lawyer. Police in Elk Grove are looking for a man who they believe was involved in a tragic hit-and-run collision on Wednesday evening near Elk Grove. The collision seriously injured the hit-and-run driver’s dad and killed his grandmother along with his dad’s girlfriend, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Family Members Were Attending a Celebration of Life
Twenty-two-year-old, Valentino Alvarez, of Sacramento, and other members of his family, had gathered together around noon at the home of his great-grandmother. Her home is located in the little town of Hood in close proximity to the city of Elk Grove. The 91-year-old great-grandmother had passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. The members of her family decided to gather together to celebrate her life.
Tragedy Strikes After Family Members Leave Together
Alvarez, his grandma, his dad and his dad’s girlfriend all left the gathering around 9:20 p.m. They got into a vehicle being driven by Alvarez. For reasons yet unclear, their vehicle struck the back of a tractor-trailer which was carrying a load of lumber. The crash occurred near Stone Lake and Hood Franklin roads, according to a CHP report.
After hitting the tractor-trailer, the car flipped over multiple times and crashed into a fence near a residential property.
Injured Driver Flees Scene of Deadly Accident
Alvarez, who suffered injuries in the crash, got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene of the accident. He managed to flag down a car that was passing through the same area. The vehicle stopped and supposedly took him to the home of a relative who resides in Hood. However, no one has seen him since the collision.
Hit and Run Crash Results in Amputation Injury and Fatalities
Alvarez’s 64-year-old grandmother of Hood, and his dad’s 47-year-old girlfriend of Folsom, passed away at the crash scene. Alvarez’s 44-year-old dad from Folsom, was rushed to a hospital with catastrophic injuries. Sadly, he had to have one of his hand’s amputated, according to the CHP.
Why Did Alvarez Leave His Family There Like That?
It is very difficult to comprehend why Alvarez left his family there to suffer without helping them.
Police are conducting an investigation and they have indicated Alvarez did not have a license. He remains at large.
