Elderly Calistoga Woman Injured in Vehicle Accident in Napa County

An auto accident left an elderly Calistoga woman with serious injuries on Monday, June 8, 2020. Information released by California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicates that this accident involved one vehicle and happened on Highway 29 just south of Calistoga. As of the latest reports, the woman remained in hospital custody in serious condition.

Crash Details

The accident occurred at about 6:35 p.m. on Highway 29 to the north of Tucker Road. An 81-year-old woman was driving northbound on the highway in a 2019 Chevrolet Impala when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle traveled off the road and onto the highway shoulder. After leaving the highway, the Impala traveled a short distance and eventually collided head-on with a tree.

An accident response team was dispatched to the location directly after CHP was notified about this crash. When officials arrived at the accident scene, they found the woman inside of her vehicle and determined that she had suffered major injuries. Responders called for a helicopter ambulance and had the woman flown to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for emergency medical procedures. Specific details about the nature of her injuries were not reported.

Investigation

CHP investigators are currently attempting to determine the cause of this accident. Police have stated that driver intoxication is not suspected as a factor and that the driver had been wearing her seatbelt when the incident occurred. Single-vehicle collisions can be complicated and are often caused by one or more factors not under driver control. Examples of non-driver accident factors include faulty car parts, hazardous roads, and more.

Recovering After Collision Injuries

The process of recovering your health after a serious car accident can be difficult, especially for elderly people whose bodies heal more slowly. In these cases, car accident survivors often need a significant amount of medical care that can include invasive surgeries, long-term medication use, physical therapy sessions, and more. Taken altogether, these things can add up to an enormous expense, and the cost of medical care can leave injured people worried that they will not be able to afford to regain their health and wellbeing.

Getting Help

Fortunately, vehicle accident survivors with serious injuries are frequently able to get help paying for their medical expenses through personal injury claims. By working with an experienced Napa personal injury lawyer and filing such a claim, it’s often possible to claim payments not only for hospital bills, but for other damages like lost wages, personal suffering, property damage, and more.

However, injury cases can be complicated and at-fault parties and insurance companies may try to offer survivors less money than they deserve. To make sure you are fairly compensated for your injuries, the best thing to do is to get advice from a professional injury attorney before taking any kind of legal action.
