SUV Passenger Killed, Several Injured in El Dorado County Crash Near Camp Sacramento
A SUV passenger was killed, several injured in El Dorado County crash Near Camp Sacramento. One person was killed and several others were injured after an SUV collided with a pickup truck towing a large travel trailer in El Dorado County crash near Camp Sacramento on Sunday evening, November 23, 2025. According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred just east of the Camp Sacramento area near Twin Bridges.
CHP reports that the SUV was traveling uphill when it encountered a pickup truck heading downhill while towing a 32-foot, fifth-wheel trailer. Investigators believe the pickup driver was traveling too fast as he approached a curve, causing the trailer to sway out of control and cross over the center line. The oncoming SUV struck the trailer, leading to catastrophic consequences.
Five people were inside the SUV. Tragically, the front passenger, an 18-year-old Woodland resident, suffered fatal injuries. The remaining occupants sustained injuries ranging from minor to major. The pickup driver, a 32-year-old man from Lathrop, was not injured.
Mountain Driving Safety Tips
Mountain roads like Highway 50 demand extra caution, especially when towing trailers or navigating steep, winding terrain:
- Slow down before curves—speed is a major factor in loss of control on mountain grades.
- Towing requires increased stopping distance and reduced speed to maintain stability.
- Stay centered in your lane, as drifting or trailer sway can be deadly on narrow mountain roads.
- Use lower gears on descents to prevent brake overheating.
- Remain alert for oncoming traffic, especially around blind turns.
These precautions can help prevent devastating collisions like this one.
