Early Morning Pittsburg Car Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Pittsburg car accident lawyer. An early morning car accident on Highway 4 injured two people on 13 August.

About the Accident

The accident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 4. A Honda Pilot SUV collided with a Ford Explorer SUV, according to basic reports. Further details of this accident are unknown at this time, but the Ford Explorer did sustain extensive rear-end damage on the right side of the vehicle.

The damages suffered  by both vehicles indicates that the Honda Pilot struck the Ford Explorer in a rear-ender accident. Because the damage to the Explorer extended to the right rear panel of the vehicle, it appears the two vehicles were at least partially next two each other at the time of the accident.

Descriptions of the Injuries

Both drivers in the accident complained of pain after the accident. An ambulance arrived on scene to assess both victims. Both were transported to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.

No passengers sustained any injuries in this accident.

Common Injuries in Similar Accidents

While details of the injuries sustained in this accident are still vague, common injuries in similar accidents include:

Cause of the First Accident

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the accident. They have not issued a preliminary cause of the accident at this time. No witnesses in the vicinity of the accident were able to offer a potential cause of the accident.

The damage to both vehicles indicates that at least one driver was making an unsafe lane change at the time of the accident. This may have caused the accident, especially if one or both drivers were not giving the road their full attention.

Common Causes of Early-Morning Accidents

Although the cause of this accident is unknown, accidents that occur in the early morning hours often follow a similar pattern. Many drivers at this time of day fall into one of three categories: intoxicated drivers, tired drivers, and distracted drivers.

Some drivers on the road at 3:40 a.m. on a Sunday are making their way home from a Saturday night at the bars. As a result, many drivers on the road are driving under the influence of alcohol.

Others drivers at this time of day include tired drivers beginning their commute. Many people who commute to downtown San Francisco begin their commutes extremely early in the morning. Service workers especially will be on the roads at early hours, even on a weekend. These drivers are often tired and struggling to pay attention to the roads.
