Yreka Man Killed in DUI Accident
Siskiyou County area California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers stated that a serious car accident happened near Grenada on Monday, November 5, 2018. The accident reportedly involved two vehicles and left one local man with injuries that, sadly, cost him his life. The fatally injured man has been identified by Siskiyou County officials as Dustyn Crowe, a 26-year-old resident of Yreka. CHP reported that the accident involved a driver they believe to have been under the influence of alcohol. The alleged drunken driver was arrested at the scene of the accident.

Accident Details
According to CHP information, the accident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. Crowe had been driving his vehicle, a Ford Focus, south on Old Highway 99 close to Pumphouse Road. At the same time, a 22-year-old Yreka resident had been driving a pickup northbound on 99, approaching the location of Crowe’s vehicle. The pickup reportedly drifted over the highway median and collided head-on with the Ford Focus.
The CHP said they received a call shortly before the accident took place from a caller who reported that a flatbed pickup truck had been “swerving badly” while driving north on Highway 99.
Response and Injuries
CHP immediately sent out emergency response staff after receiving notification about the crash. When responders reached the collision site, they discovered that Crowe had been fatally injured during the accident. Crowe was tragically declared dead at the scene. The pickup driver was found with minor injuries and arrested on DUI-related charges before being released into the custody of the Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka to receive medical attention. The man was later released from the hospital and remains in custody at the Siskiyou County jail.
