Ione Man Killed in DUI Crash
I’m Ed Smith, an Ione auto accident attorney. A single-car accident took place near Ione on the morning of Saturday, August 12, 2017. The crash, unfortunately, critically injured one victim and fatally injured another victim.
Accident Details
A 20-year-old Ione man was driving his 2000 Acura at an unknown rate of speed northbound along Jackson Valley Road in the vicinity of Highway 88 at approximately 7:00 am. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle, over-corrected and veered off the roadway. Consequently, the car overturned and struck a tree.
Was Anybody Injured?
The motorist of the Acura suffered major injuries due to the crash. He was transported via air ambulance to Kaiser South for treatment. The 19-year-old male passenger in the Acura, identified as a resident of Ione, suffered fatal injuries.

What Caused the Crash?
It is still too early to decide a cause of the crash. A Traffic Collision Report may take up to two weeks from the date of the accident to be processed. Authorities reportedly detained the motorist of the Acura on suspicion of driving under the influence.
