Drunk Driving Accident Kills Pittsburg Man
A standard truck driver was involved in an accident with a motorcyclist in Oakland during the evening hours of Saturday, February 18, 2017. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries from the accident.
What Happened?
A person behind the wheel of a truck was traveling eastbound along International Boulevard in Oakland at about 11:00 pm. At the same time, a motorcyclist was traveling westbound along International Boulevard. The truck driver allegedly turned north onto Auseon Way and crashed into the oncoming motorcyclist.
What Caused the Accident?
Authorities indicated that the truck driver was driving under the influence of alcohol moments before the automobile accident. He was later detained on felony driving under the influence. It is unknown if drugs also played as a factor in the collision.
Nature of Injuries
The truck driver suffered traumatic injuries as a result of the accident. The motorcyclist, 31-year-old Phitsanu Muncy from Pittsburg, suffered fatal injuries. Unfortunately, Muncy was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
