Fair Oaks Boulevard Two-Vehicle Crash Reportedly Caused by Drunk Driver

A two-vehicle crash occurred in Fair Oaks on July 19, and one of the motorists reported they were struck by a drunk driver who fled the scene. The collision occurred at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Sunrise East Way around 5:26 in the morning, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess any injuries in the crash. The CHP is conducting an investigation to determine how the two-vehicle crash happened.

Intersection Crashes

Because intersection accidents are often complicated, having a lawyer by your side who is experienced is important. Some of the reasons accidents occur at intersections include:

  • A driver speeding through a red light
  • Making an unsafe left or right turn
  • Ignoring another driver’s right of way
  • Distracted driving
  • Fatigue
  • Drunk or drugged driving
  • Not taking turns at a four-way stop
  • Making an illegal left turn after the light has changed
  • Misjudging the speed of an oncoming car

Why a Drunk Driver Often Causes an Accident

Twenty-nine people each day die in collisions around the country that involve a drunk driver. Around 1.5 million people are placed under arrest each year for drunk driving. However, this does not take into account people who are not caught. Driving intoxicated has many adverse effects, many of which could lead to a traffic collision, including:

  • Slows down the driver’s reaction time
  • Affects coordination
  • Reduces the driver’s ability to concentrate
  • Causes blurred vision and affects eye movement
  • Interferes with judgment

How a Lawyer Investigates a Two-Vehicle Crash

Evidence is needed to support a client’s claim for compensation following an accident. When a drunk driver is at fault, a conviction can provide strong proof that negligence was involved. Our investigators go the extra mile by also:

  • Examining the police report for errors
  • Performing accident reconstruction
  • Looking for video footage of the drunk driver accident in real-time
  • Interviewing the witnesses
  • Checking if government negligence contributed to the crash

Our lawyers use this information to build a case that favors our client. In this way, the client can recover their medical expenses, lost income from being unable to work, and for their pain and suffering.

When a Hit-and-Run Driver Cannot Be Located

My law office has a good record of locating hit-and-run drivers because we work with local authorities and have our own resources to locate one. However, if the driver cannot be found, there are other ways in which an injured person can collect compensation. In this way, they are able to concentrate on getting better without financial worry.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage in Two-Vehicle Crash

In California, all motorists are offered an optional policy for uninsured/underinsured drivers. This policy pays when a hit-and-run driver cannot be located. If a person injured in a two-vehicle crash is not covered by this optional insurance, but a family member is, that policy can be used. It does not affect insurance rates.
