Preliminary investigations indicate that a 29-year-old woman was reversing her Nissan at an undetermined speed when the tragic event unfolded. At the time, a 33-year-old man and the young girl were standing behind the vehicle. The child was struck, prompting an immediate 911 call by family members.

Emergency responders from the Cosumnes Fire Department administered lifesaving efforts, and the girl was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m. Authorities have stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incident. No arrests have been made, and the child’s identity has not yet been released.
