They were told about the collision with a second vehicle. Chico Fire Department responders arrived at the scene, along with an ambulance, to assess injuries to a patient in the Mustang. Information was not provided on whether that person was transported to a hospital. Both of the vehicles were towed. The CHP traffic investigation unit is handling the incident to find out what happened and to assign fault.

Holding a Hit-and-Run Driver Responsible

When a Chico hit-and-run injury collision occurs, and the driver is located, they can be held responsible for the accident. In this way, the injured person can recover compensation for their losses and receive justice. Some of the areas where compensation is recoverable include the following:

  • Wages that are lost: People who experience trauma from a Chico hit-and-run injury accident often find themselves hospitalized and undergoing a long recovery process, during which they cannot earn their usual wages. By initiating a personal injury claim, these individuals can reclaim lost wages, including additional job benefits like insurance, pension plans, bonuses, and tips. Should the injury force them to accept a lower-paying job, they can also recover the salary difference. Furthermore, in cases of permanent disability, they are entitled to compensation covering their earnings up to the retirement age.
  • Medical costs: Those injured in car accidents can claim reimbursement for all medical expenses resulting from their injuries. This coverage encompasses a wide range of costs, from initial emergency services and hospital stays to the bills from doctors, diagnostic tests, surgical procedures, medications, and other related expenses. The compensation package also includes future medical costs if the injuries require ongoing medical care post-settlement.
  • Pain and suffering: Individuals who suffer from the physical and emotional aftermath of a hit-and-run accident in Chico are eligible for compensation for their pain and suffering. Often, the trauma demands professional treatment for emotional distress symptoms like nightmares, re-experiencing the accident, depression, and anxiety. The expenses for these treatments are also recoverable, ensuring those affected can seek the necessary help to overcome their trauma.
