The California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrested a 15-year-old driver early Tuesday morning, August 5, 2025, following multiple 911 calls reporting teens driving under the influence in the Chester area. According to authorities, the Susanville CHP Dispatch Center received a call around 1:00 a.m. alerting them to a group of four teenagers, ranging in age from 12 to 15, operating a sedan while under the influence on Highway 36 near Chester.

Shortly afterward, a second 911 call reported a hit-and-run crash at the Best Western Hotel in Chester. Officers from Susanville and Chester CHP offices quickly located the suspect vehicle and the four minors not far from the crash site.

The 15-year-old, identified as the driver, was arrested on several charges including DUI, vehicle theft, vandalism, and hit and run. Authorities credited vigilant 911 callers for helping them swiftly intercept the impaired and unlicensed driver before a more serious accident could occur.
