Denair Head-On Crash Fatally Injures Two

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto wrongful death lawyer. A head-on crash occurred east of Denair on the morning of Saturday, June 17, 2017. Sadly, the collision caused two victims to suffer fatal injuries.

What Happened?

A 23-year-old Cressey man was behind the wheel of his Ford Explorer traveling southbound along Hickman Road in the vicinity of Monte Vista Avenue at approximately 1:20 am. At the same time, a 52-year-old Livingston man was driving his Ford Ranger northbound along Hickman Road. For unknown reasons, the man driving the Ford Explorer allegedly allowed his vehicle to veer into the northbound lane and in the direct path of the Ford Ranger. This resulted in a head-on crash.

Emergency Crews Respond to Crash Scene

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the head-on crash. When crews arrived, they discovered a Ford Ranger and a Ford Explorer with major front-end damage. Both drivers received life-saving treatment measures by medical personnel. However, it was unfortunately too late. The two motorists passed away due to their injuries at the scene.

We extend our condolences to the family members of the two victims that passed away in this tragic head-on crash.

What Caused the Crash?

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Authorities generally take up from seven to ten days to process a Traffic Collision Report. Investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

Similar Head-On Crash in Modesto

A similar head-on crash took place in East Modesto on the afternoon of May 25, 2017. An Oakdale man was driving his Acura MDX eastbound along Parker Road. A 28-year-old woman was driving her Mazda 3 westbound along the same roadway. The Oakdale man allowed his vehicle to veer into the oncoming lane of travel and crashed head-on with the woman’s Mazda. Unfortunately, the impact of the collision caused the woman to pass away at the scene.

Head-On Crashes

According to a 2016 Accident Statistic Report for Stanislaus County, there were approximately 242 (8%) head-on crashes. Head-on collisions are among the most serious type of motor vehicle accidents. The reason behind this is that the force of impact is nearly doubled due to the rate of speed traveled by each car. This may cause a victim of a head-on crash to suffer a traumatic, catastrophic or even fatal injury. It is crucial to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney that can investigate the scene of the accident, study the sequence of events leading to the collision and pinpoint fault.
