Deadly Yolo County Crash

A fatal crash happened on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 on Interstate 5 in Yolo County. Both directions of the freeway had to be shut down during the early morning hours due to this deadly Yolo County crash. This freeway closure allowed for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to investigate.

We are learning that a car led police on a chase that began in Glenn County on Monday evening. The chase initially started after what was intended to be a traffic stop. The suspect in the car was driving the stolen vehicle southbound in the northbound lanes of travel along Interstate 5, according to CHP.

The chase concluded when the suspect wrecked the vehicle by slamming into a tree at a rest stop in Dunnigan. The town of Dunnigan is located along Interstate 5 in Yolo County.

A passenger inside the stolen car was killed as a result of the impact.  We do not have any word on the driver at this point. No one else was injured.

As a result of this deadly Yolo County crash, the freeway was not able to re-open until 5:45 a.m.
