Deadly Fairfield Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield auto accident attorney. Two people lost their lives in what appears to be a drunk driving incident in Fairfield.

What Happened?

Two people died Sunday morning in a traffic collision along eastbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The collision took place about 5:30 a.m. in the vicinity just west of Lagoon Valley Road.

A 28-year-old female was driving a 2001 Honda Accord while drunk on eastbound I-80, authorities said.

A 2016 Jeep sport utility vehicle was parked along the right shoulder with three occupants inside. The driver, Fabiola Torres, 25, of Idaho, was standing outside of the vehicle on the the passenger side because he was feeling sick, the CHP indicated.

The female driver in the Honda drifted off the road and into the right shoulder and hit the Jeep. The force of the impact spun the Jeep, causing it to hit Torres, authorities said.

A 53-year-old female who was sitting in the rear of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the accident scene, the CHP said.

Torres and two other passengers, Patricia Rincon and Adolfo Rincon both of Idaho, were transported to the hospital, according to the CHP.

The female driver of the Honda was trapped in her vehicle and suffered severe injuries, authorities said. Rescue personnel had to free her from her car.

She was transported to a hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
