Statistics on Dangerous Rocklin Intersections

During any given trip to the grocery store or commute to work, most people don’t expect to be involved in a car accident. While most car rides don’t result in serious collisions, all it takes is one crash to cause serious trauma. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are an estimated 3 million people injured in U.S. car accidents every year. While it is not possible to exactly predict where accidents will happen, there are certain areas that see a higher collision rate than others. By learning where these areas are located, drivers can improve their safety. For these reasons, area residents may want to know about these dangerous Rocklin intersections.

Why are Intersections Dangerous?

Intersections usually see more accidents than other parts of the road. This happens largely because traffic at intersections travels along multiple paths, meaning that drivers need to be aware of vehicles in additional directions. If a driver is already distracted or impaired, the likelihood that they will cause an accident at an intersection is increased even further.

However, many intersections are especially dangerous. This can be due to high traffic, which tends to increase the number of accidents in a given location. However, intersections may also have high accident rates because of poor design or infrastructure issues. Intersections can be particularly dangerous when they are confusing or do not allow drivers to see oncoming traffic. Likewise, an intersection with missing or malfunctioning signals, poor lighting, or serious pavement defects presents a major risk to drivers.

Roadway Defects and Liability

If an accident is caused by a defective or dangerous road, the government responsible for that road may be considered a liable party to the crash. This means that injured individuals may be able to hold these governments financially responsible for damages. However, personal injury claims involving government entities can be complicated and have a much shorter filing period than most cases. To ensure that you are able to obtain the compensation you deserve for lost income, hospital bills, and other damages, it’s best to contact a Rocklin personal injury lawyer right away.
