Hit-and-Run Crash Knocks Down Utility Pole in Carmichael, Closes Fair Oaks Boulevard

A hit-and-run crash knocks down utility pole in Camichael, causing major traffic disruptions early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Utility Pole Sheared Off in Early Morning Crash

The collision occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Dell Road.

According to CHP traffic logs, a truck struck a utility pole before fleeing the scene. The impact sheared off the pole, leaving its upper section suspended by utility lines while the lower portion dragged wires across the roadway.

The damaged pole created a hazardous situation, prompting officers to close the roadway and turn motorists around at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Dell Road.

Utility Crews Respond

Crews from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) responded to replace the damaged utility pole and reconnect downed electrical, internet, and cable lines. Officials advised that repairs could take several hours to complete.

Internet and cable service in the surrounding area were disrupted as a result of the collision.

SigAlert Issued

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert due to the extended road closure and expected traffic delays while emergency crews worked to secure the area and restore utility service.

The hit-and-run crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released a description of the vehicle involved.
