Crash Injures Two Near Newman

What Happened?
A 16-year-old Newman resident was driving his 2002 Honda Civic southbound along Eastin Road in the vicinity of Stuhr Road at approximately 1:00 pm. The driver allegedly failed to slow for a stop sign and lost control of the vehicle. The Honda veered off the roadway, drove over a dirt embankment and into an orchard. The Honda overturned moments before coming to a stop on its wheels.
Emergency Personnel Rescues Passenger
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene of the accident and they located the involved vehicle. The impact of the collision pinned an 18-year-old passenger inside the Honda. Emergency personnel were able to extricate the passenger safely.
Was Anybody Injured?
The driver of the Honda suffered an ankle injury resulting from the car accident. It is not yet known if the motorist received emergency treatment for his injuries. The passenger in the Honda suffered an arm fracture and a head laceration. The passenger was transported via air ambulance to the Memorial Medical Center.
What Caused the Car Accident?
The cause of the car accident remains unknown due to pending investigation. A Traffic Collision Report usually takes from seven to ten calendar days to be processed by officials.
