Crash Hospitalizes Napa Man

I’m Ed Smith, a Napa personal injury lawyer.  On Friday, June 9, 2017, a man from Napa was sent to a hospital after sustaining major traumatic injuries in a single-vehicle accident.

Accident Details

According to preliminary reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred when a 19-year-old resident of Napa had been driving his vehicle, a 2007 Ford Mustang, east on Imola Avenue near the intersection of Parish Road. Reportedly, it was about 10 p.m. when the man veered off of the road for unknown reasons. After the vehicle left the roadway, it collided into a nearby tree close to the Napa Coin Laundry. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Injuries

When emergency medical responders arrived at the scene of the accident they found that the driver of the car did not receive any injuries in the accident. However, Miguel Villa, a 23-year-old male Napa resident, was riding as a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Villa was found to have received major injuries and first responders called for an ambulance to take him to the nearest hospital for treatment.

No further information on Villa’s current state nor the types of injuries that he sustained are available.

Causal Factors

Although an investigation into the accident is still underway, officials from the CHP have reported that they discovered that the driver was not licensed to drive. CHP has not stated if they suspect drugs and/or alcohol to have had a part in causing the collision.

Recent Napa Accidents

This accident has occurred along with a few other recent accidents in Napa. One such recent accident happened two days later when a man lost his life in a rollover accident on Sunday, June 11, 2017. The man had been driving north on Highway 121 on the way from Napa to Sonoma when his vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed over the road, rolled off of the shoulder, and collided with a tree about 20 feet below the highway.

Another recent Napa accident ended with a heroic rescue conducted by an off-duty firefighter and a passing tow truck driver. The woman had been driving on Highway 29 when she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a tree. Her vehicle soon caught fire and a passing tow-truck driver was attempting to free her from the burning vehicle when the fireman stopped to help. Together, they were able to save the woman just before the car was engulfed by fire.
