Corning Motorcycle Collision Causes Serious Trauma

On Sunday, March 21, 2021, two people sustained injuries during a Corning motorcycle collision. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers report that the crash happened at night and involved a motorcycle and single passenger vehicle. According to police, both injured parties were hospitalized, one with severe trauma. The accident is still under CHP investigation at this time.

Crash Details

CHP states that the crash occurred at 7:21 p.m. at the intersection of Mary and South Avenues on the southeastern edge of Corning. According to reports, a 61-year-old man from Corning was driving his Honda Civic eastbound on South Avenue just prior to the collision. As the Honda was performing a left-hand turn in order to enter a driveway, a motorcycle crashed into its front-right side. The motorcycle was reportedly a custom build driven by a 48-year-old man from Orland.

Response

CHP sent personnel to the scene right after receiving a call reporting the incident. At the scene, emergency officials discovered that the motorcyclist had suffered major trauma and had him flown via helicopter ambulance to the Enloe Medical Center in Chico. The hospital has not provided updates on his condition.

Additionally, responders discovered the passenger of the Honda had also suffered injuries. The woman was reportedly driven in an ambulance to a local hospital to receive treatments.

Investigation

Officers involved with the investigation of this accident report that they do not believe drugs or alcohol to have contributed to this crash. At this time, police reports have not mentioned any suspected causes. Frequently, motorcycle/vehicle accidents are caused by a number of contributing factors that can include things that may not be either motorist’s fault. In these situations, auto part companies or governments might share responsibility for the crash.

Motorcyclist Trauma

Motorcyclists typically take precautions to protect themselves, but helmets and armored clothing can only do so much to prevent injuries. Because they don’t have seat belts, air-bags, or insulating walls of steel, motorcyclists can sustain very severe injuries that have a huge impact on their lives.

Because of their severity, motorcyclist injuries are likely to require a substantial amount of medical treatment that can include surgeries, long-term hospital stays, physical therapy sessions, and more. Paying for all of this care can be a challenge, especially for motorcyclists who have had their income affected by their injuries.

Getting Help

If you’ve been hurt in a motorcycle crash, you might be worried about how you will pay for your medical care so that you can recover and move forward with your life. In these situations, it is critical to contact a Corning motorcycle accident attorney and learn what payments you can claim through a personal injury case. Often, motorcycle collision survivors can claim full compensation for both financial and personal losses.
