Dangerous Roadway Locations for Vacaville DUI Accidents

With the upcoming holiday weekend, Solano California Highway Patrol (CHP) has asked drivers to do what they can to stay safe by planning their trips, wearing seatbelts, and making sure that they never get behind the wheel of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. However, the incidence rate of DUI accidents typically increases over holiday weekends, and it’s important to be alert and cautious of drivers who may be intoxicated. One thing that local motorists can do to improve their safety is to learn about Vacaville DUI accidents and the locations where they frequently happen.

Vacaville DUI Accidents

There were 3,280 traumatic vehicle accidents in Vacaville reported by local agencies between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2019, according to a research study. Out of these crashes, 387 involved DUI, while 287 were primarily caused by an impaired driver. This made DUI the fourth most common crash factor in Vacaville behind speeding, improper turning, and right-of-way violations.

The Danger of DUIs

The above data shows that accidents in Vacaville involved intoxicated drivers at a rate of around 12 percent. However, nearly one-third of all deadly crashes in the city were DUIs. This means that crashes involving driver intoxication were more than three times as likely to cause a deadly injury. Similarly, crashes that involved DUI, were around twice as likely to cause severe trauma.

Calling a Lawyer

People who choose to drive while impaired knowingly put others’ lives at risk. For this reason, they are almost always determined to be partially or fully responsible for accidents. This means that people injured in car accidents can seek compensation from DUI drivers and/or their insurance companies. By filing an injury claim, it’s often possible to hold negligent drivers responsible for the full amount of damages suffered as the result of a crash.

However, every case is different and at-fault parties often put up a fight in order to disclaim responsibility. The best thing you can do to ensure you receive the payments that you deserve is to reach out to a Vacaville personal injury lawyer for advice as soon as possible following your car accident.
