Community Remembers Lincoln High School Student

A senior student from a Lincoln high school was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Merced on September 15, 2017. The crash, unfortunately, claimed the life of the beloved young man. The local community has been left heartbroken with this senseless tragedy caused by an alleged impaired driver.

Accident Details

Cameron Allison, a senior and varsity team football player of Lincoln High School, was the passenger of a white BMW traveling to a football game at Golden Valley High School in Merced. The BMW was headed south on Pacific Avenue while turning into the Weberstown Mall at about 2:20 pm. A black Infiniti driven by a 31-year-old man was headed northbound on Pacific Avenue when it collided with the BMW. The impact of the collision caused the BMW to spin out and crash into a gray Toyota that was exiting the mall parking lot.

Cause of the Accident

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. A Traffic Collision Report is usually processed within two weeks from the date of the accident. Witnesses reported that the driver of the Infiniti was driving at an excessive rate of speed. Police indicated the motorist was also driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Nature of Injuries

The 17-year-old driver of the BMW was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The passenger of the BMW, unfortunately, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Loved One Forever Remembered

Cameron Allison Jr. had a significant impact on his family and peers of his local community. He was a beloved student of Lincoln High School who always brought cheer and laughter to those he surrounded. He was a wonderful young man who will be terribly missed by his loved ones. A GoFundMe account has been set up to cover the expenses of his memorial.

DUI Suspect Makes First Court Appearance

The DUI suspect in the fatal car accident made his first court appearance on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. The suspect was charged on five accounts, including vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or higher. The bail for the accused was raised to two million dollars. The arraignment and bail hearing has been scheduled to continue on September 26, 2017.
