Community Events in Arcata

Arcata is an idyllic city located on California’s incredible north coast. Residents of the city enjoy a smaller community and laid-back culture in a town full of art and fresh, local seafood. A few upcoming events in the Arcata area are listed below.

Arcata Farmer’s Market

Hosted by the North Coast Growers Association, the Arcata Plaza Farmer’s Market takes place year-round on Saturdays in the heart of Arcata. In the warmer months between April 1 and November 18, the event takes place from 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. At other times, the market begins at 10 a.m. instead.

Attendees are able to buy fresh produce from farmers local to the Arcata area as well as enjoy live music from hometown and regional performers. The Arcata Plaza is located between 8th and 9th Streets in Arcata at H and G Streets.

Friday Night Flicks

During the summer, the City of Arcata, in cooperation with Los Bagels, Arcata Chamber of Commerce, Arcata Mainstreet, and the Minor Theater, hosts a free movie night for area residents every Friday night at the Arcata ballpark. The movies shown at the event are always family-friendly and begin at sunset.

The entrance to the park is open starting at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks to enjoy while watching the film.

Arcata Community Forest Trail Work Day

Arcata’s beautiful forests don’t stay beautiful without a little help. Those who live in the area and want to volunteer their time for the sake of preserving their city’s natural beauty are invited to join Arcata’s Environmental Services Department for a day of trail improvement in the Community Forest of Arcata.

Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. on August 26 at a location to be determined. Those wanting to help have been asked to wear long-sleeve shirts, boots, and work pants as well as bring along rain gear. The event will provide tools, gloves, beverages, and snacks to volunteers.

Cider for Non-Profits

On Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Humboldt Cider Company Tap Room in Eureka, North Bay Rotaract will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit local Rotaract-affiliated non-profits including Boys and Girls Club, Companion Animal Foundation, Food for People, and more.

Attendees can enjoy lovingly crafted local cider and food and feel good knowing that 10 percent of their cider purchases will go to fund charitable organizations in their area. The event is open to all ages before 7 p.m. and restricted to those over 21 after 7 p.m. The taproom is located at 517 F Street in Eureka
