Two Hospitalized After Four-Vehicle Collision Near Costco on East Stockton Boulevard. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, around 11 a.m., a multi-vehicle crash in a busy parking lot near Costco left two people hospitalized late Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Details of the Crash
The accident occurred in a parking lot on East Stockton Boulevard, near Rangeview Lane. CHP logs confirm that the vehicles involved included a gray-colored Acura, a gray-colored Lexus, a white-colored Honda Accord, and a fourth vehicle that has not yet been identified.
Emergency responders from the Sacramento Fire Department and Metro Fire paramedics rushed to the scene. Two individuals were transported to Kaiser South Medical Center for further evaluation. Authorities have not yet released the severity of their injuries.
Tow trucks were called in to remove the damaged vehicles, and traffic in and around the shopping center slowed briefly while crews worked to clear the scene.
Unusual Circumstances Reported
Witnesses reported seeing a man in baggy pants and colorful clothing throw two plastic bags into nearby bushes shortly after the collision. Investigators have not confirmed whether this incident was related to the crash.
Ongoing Investigation
The CHP is investigating the cause of the collision. Contributing factors such as speeding through the lot, distracted driving, or failure to yield in congested areas are often considered in parking lot crashes.
Parking Lot Safety Reminder
Collisions in retail parking lots are more common than many realize. With high pedestrian traffic, limited visibility, and drivers competing for spaces, even low-speed accidents can cause serious injuries. Shoppers and drivers are encouraged to:
- Drive slowly and cautiously in busy lots.
- Watch for pedestrians, especially near store entrances.
- Avoid distractions like phones while maneuvering in tight areas.
