On the evening of Wednesday, February 24, 2016 a vehicle crashed into a bicyclist. Citrus Heights Police Department indicated a man in his 20’s was riding a bicycle just north of Zenith. A pick up truck, which was crossing Antelope Road, hit the bicyclist.
How is the Bicyclist?
The bicyclist was transported to a local emergency room for treatment. He sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. No other details have been released.
What Caused the Accident?
The cause of the accident is under investigation. The driver of the pick up truck stopped at the scene to cooperate with investigators. Negligent motorists sometimes fail to obey traffic laws. For example, yielding to bicyclists when turning right. Or, they might cause a bicycle accident simply by being inattentive or careless. Bicyclists and people on foot are especially susceptible to serious injuries. This is because during a crash they are almost completely unprotected.
