A Citrus Heights police pursuit came to an abrupt end when a suspect’s vehicle crashed on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
What Happened?
A car crashed and rolled over at a busy Citrus Heights intersection, officers said.
Citrus Heights Police Trying to Apprehend a Carjacking Suspect
The driver of the overturned vehicle was a carjacking suspect. The suspect had allegedly stolen the car from it’s owner at gunpoint, officers said.
Where in Citrus Heights Did the Vehicle Pursuit Take Place?
The suspect was chased by police along Old Auburn Road. The suspect crashed a short time later into a center divider as he was trying to make his way onto Sylvan Road.
Officials said the suspect tried to run after the crash but was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest by authorities.
The intersection where the car overturned had to be closed following the crash.
Was Anyone Hurt in the Pursuit or Crash?
It appears that no innocent bystanders were hurt in the pursuit or crash. The condition of the carjacking suspect has not been released.
The incident is currently under investigation.
