Cement Truck Accident Kills Driver

I’m Ed Smith, a Natomas car accident lawyer. A cement truck driver was traveling along Interstate 5 in Natomas during the afternoon hour of Monday, March 6, 2017. One of the tires blew on the cement truck which caused the driver to lose control and crash into a guard rail.

What Happened?

A woman was driving a cement truck northbound along Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Interstate 80 and Arena Boulevard at approximately 12:45 pm. For unknown reasons, the right rear tire of the cement truck blew. This caused the cement truck to move to the left and crash into the guard rail. The impact of the collision caused the truck to overturn and eject the driver. According to authorities, no other vehicles were involved in the truck accident.

What Caused the Accident?

It is still too early to determine what caused the cement truck accident. Usually, it takes authorities up to two weeks to process a Traffic Collision Report.

Was the Driver Okay?

The woman driving the cement truck was identified as 26-year-old Jessica Jackson from Folsom. Unfortunately, Jackson suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the young woman that passed away in this tragic truck accident.

Cement Truck Accidents

Cement truck accidents are among the most dangerous types of trucking accidents. The reason is due to the enormous weight of the vehicle. Cement trucks oftentimes weigh over 30,000 pounds without concrete and weigh over 60,000 pounds with a load of concrete. These trucks are are very difficult to stop quickly due to their massive weight.

Maintenance should never be ignored on a cement truck or any other big rig. Truck accidents caused by poor maintenance can occur at any time. Tire blowouts are common for trucks due to lack of tire pressure inspection. Improper pressure in the tires can cause uneven weight load distribution. This causes the tires to wear unevenly, which can ultimately lead to a blowout. Trucking accident victims can suffer traumatic, catastrophic or even fatal injuries. It is best to consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer if you or someone you love has been hurt or killed in a trucking accident.
