Accident on Madison Avenue Involves Head-on Collision

A head-on collision that involved four vehicles occurred in Carmichael on October 30, which resulted in injuries. The accident, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), occurred along Madison Avenue at the intersection with Flagstone Street between a Chrysler van and a Lexus SUV and two additional vehicles. Emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to assess injuries in the head-on collision.

Injuries in Head-On Collision

No details were provided on the number of injuries or whether those who suffered trauma were treated at the scene or taken to a hospital. The CHP is asking that anyone who witnessed the intersection crash or might have additional information to phone them to help in their accident investigation.

Dangers of a Head-on Collision

A frontal collision is among the most dangerous types of crashes, even at lower speeds. This is because the speed of both vehicles combines to produce the impact. Fatalities are common in these types of collisions as well as serious injuries. If you were injured in a head-on collision, having the help of an experienced injury lawyer can mean the difference in whether you can collect fair compensation or not.

Causes of a Head-on Collision

There are a number of ways in which a head-on collision can occur, including the following:

  • Head-on crashes are commonly caused by an impaired or confused driver entering the wrong way on a highway or one-way street. This places the driver in front of oncoming traffic where it can be struck at high speed.
  • Intersections are other common locations for a head-on collision. In some cases, the driver may be rushing to make a left turn before oncoming traffic reaches them. In other cases, the driver may have run a red light or stop sign.
  • Two-lane roads are another common site for a collision head-on. Usually, it occurs when a driver is passing another vehicle and does not have a clear view of oncoming traffic.

Investigation of an Intersection Crash

Because intersections are locations where traffic converges from all directions and is complicated by the presence of motorcycles, bicyclists and pedestrians, accidents often happen. Usually, they are caused by error on the part of the driver or other person. Finding the evidence to support a client’s compensation claim is important for them to obtain the compensation that they deserve. Our investigators are experienced in doing that.

The investigators check the traffic lights and intersection design and maintenance in the area to ensure it is adequate to prevent an accident. If not and the lack of maintenance or poor design led to the head-on crash, the government entity in charge may be liable.

  • They interview witnesses to the accident and look over the police report to ensure its accuracy.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed. This valuable technique shows the accurate positioning of the vehicles before the accident and when it occurred, which can prove which driver was at fault.
  • Roadway evidence left by the vehicles is checked and photographed. This may include signs that one vehicle tried to stop or a lack of tread marks, which indicates the opposite. Paint smears, pieces of the vehicle, gouges in the pavement and other evidence is valuable to prove a claim.

Our experienced lawyers take over once the evidence is gathered to build a case in favor of our clients. This information is used both in insurance company negotiations and in court, if necessary.
