Car Kills Modesto Pedestrian
An elderly man was walking along a Modesto road on the night of Saturday, November 12, 2016. For reasons that remain unclear, a passing motorist accidentally struck and killed the pedestrian.
Richard Jenkins, 69, was walking along Tully Road in the vicinity of Snyder Avenue in Modesto. Jenkins was walking northbound on Tully Road when he was struck by a vehicle. The car that hit Jenkins was a 2002 Honda Accord. The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. Medical personnel arrived promptly and tried to assist with Jenkins’s injuries. However, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.

Who Caused the Crash?
Authorities from the Modesto Police Department are still investigating the cause of the crash. The driver of the vehicle who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and was cooperative with authorities investigating the accident. Additional details about the accident and the condition of the driver in the Honda have not been released. Officials reported that alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
