Car Accident Leaves Two Injured in Brentwood

I’m Ed Smith, a Brentwood Personal Injury Lawyer. On the rainy night of Monday, January 8, 2018, there was a collision in the city of Brentwood that sent two people to local hospitals. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.

Rain-slicked Roadways Become a Safety Hazard

There were two occupants in a Chevrolet HHR that were transferred to nearby hospitals after a two-car collision that also involved a Honda Accord with two occupants. The site of the auto accident took place in rain-slicked roads of the Sand Creek Rd/Fairview Ave intersection. The passenger traveling inside the silver Chevrolet was quickly transported to the Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch. The driver was transferred to the John Muir Medical Center located in Walnut Creek.

The two people in the black Honda were medically evaluated on site by paramedics. Both the driver and passenger were released shortly after rejecting further treatment. Initially, a medical helicopter was kept on hold as part of the emergency responders’ response to the accident. However, terrible weather conditions forced the air ambulances to remain firmly grounded.

Cause of Accident Remains Under Investigation

After the two vehicles collided into each other, they gradually came to a full stop side by side one another. Both cars were posted up in the southbound driving lanes of Fairview Avenue, although they were facing north. The origin of the collision is still being investigated by the Brentwood Police Department. Liability for the accident remains unknown, as officers were unable to determine who was at blame. There was a heavy downpour of rain when the incident occurred, and this weather may have contributed to the two-car collision.

Emergency Responders to the Rescue

The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) sent out engines 52 and 53 to the scene of the accident. Additionally, there was a total of three medical-care units and police officers that arrived as part of the emergency response unit. After the accident, driving through the four way intersection became limited for an hour due to investigative and clearning operations that were underway.
