California State Fair Starts Today

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Wrongful Death Lawyer. The California State Fair opens its gates today, July 14 and will end on July 30. Get your tickets online at http://www.castatefair.org/discount-tickets/. This year will be the 50th year that the state fair is held at Cal Expo. Check out the list of promotional days:

$2 Taste of the Fair – Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. food vendors will have $2 specials on their menu.

Senior Savings Fridays – July 14, 21, 28, seniors of 62 and up will get discounted tickets of $8 and ride the Giant Wheel and Grand Carousel for free.

Wells Fargo Kids Free Tuesdays – July 18 and 25 kids under 12 will receive free admission and rides will be $2 for all ages.

Military & Veteran Appreciation Day by BloodSource – July 20, all active, retired, veterans, and military reserve personnel will receive free admission with their Military ID.

First Responders Appreciation Day by BloodSource – July 27, all first responders and law enforcement officers receive free admission with ID.

Events

The fair is packed with all sorts of expos, contests, and displays. Here are a few things that are happening this weekend. For a full schedule, check out the Fair Calendar.

Classic Car Show: Friday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Come explore a variety of classic cars both foreign and domestic. Each day, different car clubs and varieties will be present. If you are a car lover, you can’t miss this!

Street Drum Corps: Friday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

An energetic show that started in Los Angeles in 2004. This group will be roaming around the fair so stop and revel at the spectacle that made the cover of Drum Magazine and were featured on Rolling Stone.com.

Exotic Bird Demonstration: Friday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Head over to Expo Building 6 to watch trainers show off magnificent exotic birds and teach the audience all about each species.

Sheila E.: Friday, July 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Sheila is a world-class drummer with a storied career involved with some of the greatest musicians in the world. Joined by singer Ledisi and rapper MC Lyte they will put on a show tonight at the California State Fair.

Best of Show – Horse Show: Saturday, July 15 at 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

All the first place recipients of county 4-H, FFA, Grange, and other exhibitions will strut their stuff while competing in all the different events at the state level for honors and prizes.

Magician’s Guild: Saturday, July 15 at 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Marvel at performances by members of the Sacramento Magician’s Guild as they mingle about the audience doing magic tricks. The show is aimed at adults and teens but will not exclude children.

Live Thoroughbred Horse Racing: Every Thursday through Sunday

Watch these magnificent animals give everything they have to finish first at the Miller Lite Racetrack.

John Michael Montgomery: Saturday, July 15 at 8:00 p.m.

This legendary country artist from Kentucky comes to the California State Fair. Mr. Montgomery sings beautiful country ballads such as “Life’s a Dance” and “I Love the Way You Love Me”.
