Fifteen Seriously Injured in Bus Accident Near Stockton

An auto accident involving a tour bus and a pickup truck occurred near Stockton on the evening of Tuesday, January 2, 2018. The accident, unfortunately, caused fifteen parties to suffer traumatic injuries.

We hope and pray for a quick and full recovery for the parties that suffered harm in this tragic accident.

What Happened?

A 69-year-old Stockton man was driving a 1990 Ford Ecoline Transit Bus eastbound along Eight Mile Road in the vicinity of Jack Tone Road shortly before 6:00 pm. At the same time, a 66-year-old Linden man was driving his Chevrolet Silverado northbound along Jack Tone Road. For unknown reasons, the passenger bus allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and broadsided the driver’s side of the Chevrolet. The impact of the collision caused serious body damage to both vehicles.

Nature of Injuries

Emergency personnel was called to the scene of the bus accident to render aid to the victims. Twelve passengers and the tour bus driver were transported via ambulance to area hospitals for injury treatment. Of the thirteen parties from the tour bus, two of them suffered serious injuries. The motorist and passenger of the Chevrolet Silverado both suffered minor injuries.

What Caused the Accident?

Officials have not yet decided a cause of the auto accident due to ongoing investigation.

Bus Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

Commercial providers that offer transportation to passengers, including passenger vans and tour buses, often take long-distance trips along the interstate or highways, leaving them susceptible to auto accidents. Accidents and collisions involving passenger transportation vehicles may occur for a variety of reasons, including:

Carriers that transport people from one place to another for a fee including taxis, buses, and trains owe a higher degree of care under California Civil Code 2168. Carriers that fail to do so and cause injuries to others may be penalized for their negligence. If you or someone you love has suffered significant harm due to a Stockton bus accident, you do not have to endure this hardship alone. Hiring a seasoned Stockton personal injury lawyer is crucial in securing your rights as a plaintiff and obtaining fair compensation for your losses.
