Six Injured in Chain-Reaction Crash

An accident involving six vehicles occurred west of Modesto on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. The crash, unfortunately, caused six people to suffer traumatic injuries.

We would like to extend our thoughts for a swift and full recovery for those injured in this tragic chain-reaction accident.

What Happened?

An empty concrete truck was traveling eastbound along Highway 132 at approximately 1:50 pm. A Dodge van traveling in front of the concrete truck had slowed for traffic in the vicinity of Rosemore Avenue. The concrete truck rear-ended the Dodge, propelling the vehicle into the westbound lane. An oncoming Chevrolet pickup truck was unable to avoid the Dodge van in its path, resulting in a serious collision. The concrete truck continued eastbound and struck a Honda Civic. The impact caused the Honda to rear-end a Jeep SUV. The Jeep then collided with an eastbound Toyota sedan.

Was Anybody Injured?

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that six parties suffered injuries following the collision. One of the parties suffered a broken arm. Authorities indicated that the injured parties were treated at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock and Doctors Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

What Caused the Accident?

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. A Traffic Report is usually processed within two weeks from the date of an accident. Sometimes traffic reports are inaccurate pertaining to fault. Contact an experienced Modesto car accident lawyer for assistance in accurately pinpointing fault.

Accidents Involving Concrete Trucks

Concrete trucks are massive motor vehicles. These trucks usually weigh over 30,000 pounds unloaded and over 60,000 pounds loaded. These trucks are very difficult to stop quickly due to their massive weight. If an operator of a concrete truck is distracted, they will rarely be able to escape an unexpected incident. The drivers of these trucks are under a lot of pressure to deliver their loads as soon as possible. When water is added to the mixture, it usually hardens within 90 minutes. Aside from this, there is also an issue with the axles of these trucks. The weight of these vehicles is so heavy that the axles receive a tremendous amount of pressure. These axles may give out unexpectedly if not carefully examined. If the weight of concrete trucks is not properly balanced, they may also be susceptible to rollover accidents.
