Boating Accident on Lake Shasta Injures Three

Boat Collision on Lake Shasta Injures Three

On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, three people were hurt during a Lake Shasta boat collision. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) reports that the accident reportedly happened in the early afternoon on the far eastern side of the lake and that it involved two boats. While three people overall suffered injuries, only one of the injured parties was hospitalized. The accident is under investigation by the SCSD’s Boating Safety Unit.

Accident Information

According to SCSD, the crash happened at around 12:55 p.m. on the Pit River arm of Lake Shasta just west of the Arbuckle Flat Campground. Officials reported that two boats were heading in opposite directions, one eastbound and the other heading west. When the boaters realized they were headed directly toward each other, both took evasive action at the same time.

Unfortunately, both boaters turned in the same direction, mirroring each other’s action. As a result, the two boats crashed into each other, knocking one of the drivers unconscious.

Response

A third boater witnessed the accident, called for emergency help, and took the unconscious boater and his passenger to the nearby Jones Valley boat ramp. Medical responders at the boat ramp determined that the boater was seriously hurt and had him transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Hospital staff has since reported that the boater was in stable condition. According to reports, both the passenger and second boat driver sustained minor injuries.

Investigation

As SCSD officials investigate this crash, reports regarding suspected causes have not been issued. Boat accidents can be complicated and might involve factors like defective boat parts that cannot reasonably be controlled by drivers. In these cases, the companies responsible for manufacturing or selling the defective parts might be considered at-fault parties to the collision.

Recovering from a Major Injury

Suffering a major injury can change your life. Many accident survivors suffer trauma that requires extensive treatment, and the necessary medical care can be highly expensive. Paying for physical therapy, surgeries, medicines, and other medical necessities is often difficult, especially for people that have had their employment affected by their injuries. Altogether, these issues can leave accident survivors feeling unsure of how they’ll recover and move forward with their lives.

Fortunately, many accident survivors are able to obtain full compensation for these losses and more by filing a personal injury claim against negligent parties and/or their insurance companies. With the help of a personal injury lawyer, it is possible to claim payments for medical expenses, income loss, and damaged property as well as for non-economic damages like personal suffering.

If you want to learn more about what compensation could be available to you specifically, it’s important to get personal advice directly from an expert Redding personal injury lawyer. The majority of attorneys will happily offer a free phone consultation, so there is no downside to reaching out for professional help.
