Things to Expect from Wrongful Death Claims and Motorcycle Accidents

The sudden loss of a close relative is one of the most difficult and painful experiences surviving family members may ever go through. Aside from coping with grief, survivors are often met with mounting medical bills, funeral service costs, significant loss of financial contributions to the household, and more. Such factors may make the ordeal even more challenging to deal with, especially if someone else’s negligence was the direct cause of the loss of life. When this occurs, survivors may have grounds for a wrongful death action against the other side and their insurance company.

Every wrongful death claim involves different facts and circumstances. Therefore, each case will differ in value. When submitting a claim, one of the challenges surviving family members often face is trying to determine the value of intangible and financial losses they have experienced. This is the last thing that survivors want to do while dealing with grief and loss. Given that there is no single fixed amount for a loss of life, the value of the case will depend on the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident, damages incurred by the family, and the decedent’s age, health, education, occupation, and life expectancy.

Fortunately, survivors can depend on their Fresno wrongful death lawyer to utilize their resources, such as working with expert witnesses to determine the true value of a claim and seek maximum compensation on their behalf. Remember that California law limits the amount of time you have to file a case in civil court. There is generally a two-year statute of limitations applicable to wrongful death matters.
