Big Rig Crash Kills Antioch Man
I’m Ed Smith, an Antioch car accident attorney. An Antioch man was traveling in Pleasant Grove when he was struck by a big rig during the afternoon hours of Sunday, April 16, 2017. Unfortunately, the big rig crash caused the man to suffer fatal injuries and his female passenger to suffer traumatic injuries.
What Happened?
A 21-year-old man from Antioch was traveling eastbound in a Chevy Impala along Sankey Road with a 22-year-old female passenger at approximately 12:30 pm. The man stopped at a stop sign at Pleasant Grove Road. A 63-year-old Rio Linda man was traveling southbound in a Peterbilt truck along Pleasant Grove Road in the vicinity of Sankey Road when the Chevy Impala entered the intersection. The driver of the big rig slammed on the breaks but it was unfortunately too late. The big rig collided with the driver’s side of the Chevy Impala which caused the Chevy to overturn.
Emergency Response
The East Nicolaus and Pleasant Grove Fire Department responded to the scene of the collision. The 22-year-old female passenger in the Chevy Impala suffered major injuries and was transported to the Sutter Roseville Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, emergency personnel pronounced the Antioch man deceased at the scene.

What Caused the Big Rig Crash?
It is still too soon to determine what caused the big rig crash. It usually takes authorities from seven to ten days to process a Traffic Collision Report. Authorities are still investigating whether drug or alcohol use contributed as a factor in the collision.
