Auto Burglary Prevention

I’m Ed Smith, a Brentwood car accident attorney. Officers from the Brentwood Police Department have made a public announcement to bring awareness to prevent auto burglary during the holiday season. To ensure the safety for residents in the community, officers have created an auto burglary prevention tip list for all to review and follow.

Increse in Car Burglary

The Brentwood Police Department as well as other cities in the Contra Costa County vicinity have observed an increase in auto burglary. Authorities have linked the increase in auto burglary due to the holiday season underway. Therefore, officers are bringing awareness to auto burglary to prevent residents from the local community falling victim to these types of cases.

Safety Tips

The following tips have been brought to you by the Brentwood Police Department to ensure a safe and fun holiday for all this year:

  • Do not leave valuables in visible view.
  • Do not move your possessions to your trunk in the plain view of others.
  • Do not leave your windows down or doors unlocked in your vehicle.
  • Never leave your keys inside your vehicle.

Did You Know?

A national statistic indicates that approximately 36% of all reported calls to the police department involve vehicle burglaries. Auto burglaries are a preventable crime and one should never allow themselves to fall victim to it. If you observe an unusual activity or crime taking place in your community, be sure to report it to authorities and your neighbors. Always be aware of your surroundings

Auto Burglary in Hercules

The City of Hercules has continued to experience an increase in reported theft for parked automobiles. Officers from the Hercules Police Department have handled auto theft reports such as 15 cases involving windows being smashed and 26 cases involving theft in an unlocked automobile. The 41 reported cases have occurred since the end of Halloween. A majority of the auto burglary cases have taken place during the early morning hour. The similarities that all these cases share is that valuables were left inside the vehicle which led to the susceptibility of auto burglary.
