Auburn Man Identified Following Fatal Placer Collision

On Thursday, December 5, 2019, officials of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of an Auburn man who sadly passed away as the result of a recent area car accident. The man was identified as 21-year-old Tyler William Burk. The accident took place a day earlier and involved three vehicles. According to reports, one other individual, identified as a 73-year-old man from Grass Valley, was also injured during the crash. A GoFundMe page has been created to help Tyler Burk’s family with his final resting arrangements.

Crash Information

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Auburn office is reportedly still investigating the incident. According to CHP, the accident took place just after 1:00 p.m. on Highway 49, around 6 miles to the north of Auburn city limits. Burk had been driving in a 2013 Volkswagen Golf and was heading north on the highway when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. Burk’s Golf entered the center lane, which acts as a turn lane for both northbound and southbound traffic. After traveling in the center lane for a short distance, the vehicle swerved right and traveled into southbound traffic, where it struck a Ford F-150 on its left rear corner. This impact sent the Volkswagen into the path of an oncoming Acura RDX.

Response

Emergency responders arriving at the collision site found Burk with critical injuries. Tragically, fire personnel declared him deceased on-site. The Acura driver was found trapped inside of his vehicle and was extricated using the Jaws of Life. After freeing the elderly man from his wrecked car, responders had him taken to a hospital via ground ambulance for treatment of major injuries. Updates on his medical condition have not been made available. The driver of the pickup was reportedly not injured during the crash.

Investigation

CHP has stated that they are currently “investigating the possibility” that a medical emergency may have played a role in causing this terrible accident. However, a full report on causal factors of the collision has not yet been released. Additionally, collisions involving fatally injured drivers can be difficult for investigators. Because the driver is unable to tell them what happened, police often have an incomplete picture of the events leading up to the accident, meaning that crucial collision factors may go overlooked.

This is why it is important to seek out a skilled Auburn personal injury lawyer who knows how to investigate fatal auto accidents with the rights of decedents and their families in mind.

Finding a Trustworthy Lawyer

The period of time after a deadly crash is often very hard for families of decedents. Often, they delay getting in touch with a lawyer because they don’t know how to find one that they can trust. However, it’s not hard to find an experienced, compassionate attorney in your area if you know how to look, and having legal representation early on can be vital to your case.
