Auburn Crash Hospitalizes One

I’m Ed Smith, an Auburn personal injury lawyer. A single-vehicle collision in Auburn recently left one individual with traumatic injuries requiring hospitalization.

Accident Details

Official reports issued by the Auburn Police Department (APD) indicate that the car accident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on the westbound side of Elm Avenue just before the Highway Interstate 80 overpass.

The driver of a white Ford sedan allegedly lost control of her vehicle for reasons not currently understood. After losing control of the vehicle, the driver veered into the side of the roadway before striking a section of raised concrete walkway.

Photos of the auto accident show minimal damage to the vehicle with most of the damage affecting the front end of vehicle’s passenger side.

Injuries

Emergency response officials reported that the woman received serious injuries in the accident. The woman, who has not been identified as of yet, needed to be fitted with a neck brace before responders were able to remove her from her vehicle and place her on a gurney.

The injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment. No updates on the nature of her injuries or her condition are currently available.

Investigation

APD is as of now conducting a traffic collision investigation in order to determine what caused this auto accident. While little is currently known about the accident circumstances, causal factors may include common collision factors including dangerous defects in the roadway, driver fatigue or distraction, a malfunctioning vehicle part such as steering systems or brakes, a medical emergency, and more.

Cervical Disc Injuries

Severe pain in the neck can be a symptom of a cervical disc injury. Cervical disc injuries are serious and can cause chronic pain and even disabilities. Because the cervical area of the spine is relatively unprotected, it is liable to be injured by many different types of trauma and is commonly sustained by those involved in an auto accident.

What is a Cervical Disc Injury?

A cervical disc injury occurs when a cervical disc, which prevents bones in the neck from rubbing and allows room for spinal nerves to pass to the brain, is damaged. This damage can happen in different ways and common names for cervical disc injuries include things you may have heard of such as; torn disc, slipped disc, herniated disc, ruptured disc, pinched nerve, bulging disc, and more.

Symptoms of cervical disc injuries include; arm pain, pain in the shoulders, physical weakness, and pain in the neck with movement or while resting. Other times, these accidents don’t involve serious symptoms or, in other cases, symptoms can appear days, weeks, or even months after the injury has been sustained.
