Antioch Woman Flips SUV Over on Highway

I’m Ed Smith, an Antioch Car Accident Lawyer. A mother was driving with her kids near Pittsburg when their SUV lost control and flipped itself over on Wednesday, December 7, 2017. A more in-depth report can be seen below.

Losing Control of the Car

A 35-year old female from Antioch was driving along Highway 4 with her three children including a 4-year old girl, an 8-year old boy and his 10-year old big brother. Moments before 7:00 a.m., she was driving a blue Ford Explorer when she abruptly lost control of her car. The accident took place while traveling westbound Highway 4, which was west of the Loveridge Rd exit. Thankfully, no other cars were harmed during this time.

Even after the rollover, two occupants in the car were able to immediately evacuate the vehicle, according to statements confirmed by California Highway Patrol (CHP). Once everyone was removed from the Explorer, all four involved were transferred to the Sutter Delta Medical Center of Antioch.

CHP officer Lindsay Odom reported that their injuries were relatively minor, and they were being submitted into nearby hospitals to have doctors examine any unobtrusive wounds that may have resulted.

Low Tire Pressure May Have Caused Rollover

Based on the initial assessment of the accident, investigators currently believe this accident might have been due to the low pressure levels found in at least one of the tires.

Following the accident, Highway 4 closed down two left lanes. Traffic became backed up for more than one mile into Antioch. The agency made a decision to not send out a Sig Alert to warn of the congested traffic, and at 8:00 a.m. the lanes had cleared up. Additionally, the crash-site was all clear around 8:45 a.m.
