Multiple-Vehicle Accident on Walerga Road Caused by Head-On Collision

A head-on collision occurred in Antelope on July 24 during the early morning hours that expanded to include five vehicles. The accident happened shortly before 8:00 in the morning at Walerga Road and North Loop Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), three pickups, a Nissan sedan, and a delivery truck were involved in the crash.

Walerga Road Closed for About an Hour While Investigation Is Conducted

One medic arrived at the scene of the accident, and another was called there to help assess injuries. At the time of this report, no information had been provided on how many people were injured or hospitalized because of the accident. A Chevy pickup sustained major front-end damage, while the sedan had extensive rear-end damage. The accident blocked all the northbound lanes, and traffic had to be rerouted to the right-hand turn lane. The lanes reopened shortly before 9:00 a.m.

How a Lawyer Can Help Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

Accidents between two vehicles, such as the head-on collision above, can easily turn into a multiple-vehicle crash. As two vehicles crash together, they may be pushed into other lanes, and innocent drivers can get caught up in the accident. Because a multiple-vehicle collision can be complex and involve more than one negligent party, trying to obtain fair compensation for your accident injuries can be difficult.

Over the years, we’ve successfully handled many claims that involved multiple vehicles. We investigate to determine which driver/drivers committed a negligent action that led to your accident injury.

Causes of a Head-on Collision

Negligence by one of the drivers is the usual cause of a head-on collision. Some of the reasons they happen include:

  • Wrong-way drivers: One of the major causes of a head-on collision, a wrong-way driver is often drunk or under the influence of drugs.
  • Speeding: Driving over the speed limit is a common reason for all types of accidents. A speeder who loses control of their vehicle can end up crossing the centerline and causing a head-on collision.
  • Improper passing: Improper passing along a two-lane road without a clear view of oncoming traffic or over a double-yellow line can result in a serious accident head-on.
  • Drowsy driving: A driver who is too fatigued can drift off to sleep and awaken to find out they’ve crossed the centerline.
  • Drunk drivers: Still a menace on the roadways, drunk drivers have trouble staying in their own lane, their vision is affected and they can’t judge the distance between their own vehicle and others.

Compensation in a Head-On Collision

Those injured in a traffic accident caused by someone else can claim to recover damages. In most cases, negotiations with the insurance company for the at-fault driver are successful. However, if they are not, we are prepared to take the case to civil court to get you fair compensation. Recovery of damages includes:

  • All medical costs of the injury caused by the accident are recoverable. If the injury is long-term or disability occurs, that is factored into the settlement.
  • Wages that were lost and the value of other perks of the job can be recovered.
  • Pain and suffering, including economic and non-economic damages, are recoverable.
